2008 • 17th Annual Sam Masich VANCOUVER PUSH HANDS CAMP: 2
Camp 2: 'Applied Energetics'
Vancouver, BC, Canada
In this years’ Sam Masich Vancouver Summer Push Hands Camp we will approach the 25 energies and their theory from two internal perspectives. In the second camp, 'Applied Energetics' a focus on posture and alignment through a study of energetic centres and routes takes us into more advanced stages of the work. Here we begin to touch on the technical basis for the concept of Shen-ming or ‘spiritual enlightenment’, as referred to in the Taijiquan Classics allowing us to work with the 25 energies at a completely different level.
cost: $750 (Early Bird: $700 if registered by May 15)
(Both camps $1400/$1300 if registered by June 15 )
$250 nonrefundable deposit* by May 15 ($500 both camps)
‘First-come-first-serve’ on approval.

Campamento de 4 dias de Empuje de Manos • Madrid Push Hands Camp
Madrid, España
Campamento de Empuje de Manos de 4 días
Serie de 25 Energías
Pegarse, Escuchar, Comprender, Recibir y Neutralizar
Agosto. Viernes 15–Lunes 18

4 Day Push Hands Camp
25 Energies Series: Neutralizing, Enticing and Seizing
Sat Aug. 15-Tue Aug. 18
Taiji push-hands skill requires an understanding of various kinetic energies (jin). Last year Sam began the presentation of 25 basic energies of push-hands in Madrid, starting with zhan-nian jin or ‘sticking energy’. We examined in some detail rolling, transferring, pivoting and exchanging, the vital elements in maintaining the firm and relaxed connection. In this year’s exciting four day event, we will review these concepts along with ting (listening), dong (comprehending), jie (receiving) and hua (neutralizing) energies. From here we graduate to a study of yin (enticing) and na (seizing) energies while also deepening our understanding si zheng tui-shou (the ‘four-hands’ push-hands drill) which is critical to the study of classical taijiquan.

Message: ANNOUNCEMENT
A rare opportunity is coming to Ottawa. There will be a Taiji
workshop presented by Eli Montaigue, son of Master Erle Montaigue, founder of the World Taiji Boxing Association, on September 20 & 21, 2008.
Eli will be teaching:
• Advanced Small San Sau
• San Sau’s Deadly Mother Applications!
• Old Yang Form (Yang Lu Chan)
• Single & Double Pushing Hands
• and Fa-jing Striking Methods
as much and as deep as the time allows.
Plus, get corrections at the workshop. Check your Yang Chen Fu form, Yang Lu Chen form, Cannon Fist, Large San-Sau, Bagua forms, Wudang forms, Hands Weapons, or Push Hands during this event.
Mother Applications in the small San-Sau
Mother Applications do not appear much in writing nor on DVD. From Eli’s site: “The mother applications from the small San-Sau are some of the best multiple strike kill methods out there, teaching you all about body movement, Fa-jing, and Dim-Mak. There is one Mother Application for every move in the Small San-Sau, the postures in the form are your first reaction, your defence, even though some of them alone can kill, the mother applications are your follow ups.”
There will be five hours of training each day, with the exact starting and ending times and
location in Ottawa to be determined. The cost of the two-day
workshop will be $180.00 Canadian.
This is Eli's first visit to Canada so don't miss this opportunity to learn from and train
with him. It is important that you contact Larry
as soon as possible to register your interest in attending as the presentation of this workshop is contingent on there being a minimum of 20 to 30 registrants

English
Friday: Oct. 31 7-10pm
Jue-shou: Sensing-hands
Sensing-hands provides the basis for more advanced studies of 'jin', the kinetic energies which provide the basis for taijiquan's use of 'intrinsic power'. This evening will provide a foundation for the weekend class to follow but can be attended by anyone regardless of experience.
Saturday & Sunday: Nov. 1 & 2 10am-5pm
Taijiquan 25 Energies Series (#1)
Zhan-Nian, Ting, Dong, Jie & Hua Jin (Sticking, Listening, Understanding, Receiving, Neutralizing Energies)
Taijiquan forms and partner practices are based to a great extent on 'jin', discrete kinetic energies. For the past 8 years Sam has worked with the progression of 25 basic energies of Push Hands in his Annual Vancouver Summer Push Hands Camp. This November we will begin the study of these energies as the first in a series of workshops with Sam to explore this profound topic.
Beginning with Zhan-Nian Jin or ‘Sticking Energy’, we will examine in detail rolling, transferring, pivoting and exchanging, the vital elements in maintaining the firm and relaxed connection so important in studying the next few energies.
(These classes are appropriate for English & French speakers)
