Espada de 5 Secciones en parejas • 5 Section Taijijian
Madrid, Spain
Espada de 5 Secciones en parejas
Febrero, Viernes 15 – Domingo 17
(English)
Just as Taiji sword solo practice takes the postural and energetic work of barehand form training deeper, the study of 5 Section Tai Chi two person sword sparring enables practitioners to delve deeper into Taiji principles. Develop a clear and sound understanding of the dynamics of body and blade positioning used in traditional sword training.
(This class is appropriate for both Spanish & English students)

Taijiquan Core Principles by Sam Masich
Taijiquan is an art based on ancient movement principles, yet many of these are very closely related to modern concepts of sports training and kinesiology. One of the true western pioneers of principle based taijiquan, Sam takes a progressive approach to the ancient classics in a workshop that will change how you think about taiji forever.
We will apply this work work to form, push-hands and applications.

A look at the dozens of techniques imbedded 'between the 16' in this routine, basic foundation drills and partner work will round out the day.
- Taiji Fan Experience the beauty and power of Taiji Fan for the first time or continue to refine your skill and understanding as you deepen your study. Basic combinations and foundation drills, partner work and solo form will make the time fly by.
- 24 Rehabilitative Postures of Qigong for Health and Longevity - A brief overview of this system, involving both qigong (chi kung, breathing exercises) and movements of the body. Regular practice of this set of exercises can help to improve flexibility, strength (both muscular and cardiovascular) and overall health. Based on the centuries-old exercises of daoyin, wuqinxi, yijijing and baduanjin, this series was compiled by martial artist and doctor, Wang Zi-Ping, who lived to be 93 and practiced it regularly. One of his granddaughters, Helen Xiao-Rong Wu, teaches taiji and this particular qigong at the School of Kinesiology and Health Science at York University in Toronto.

How can I make my push-hands behave consistently with my form—my applications with my push-hands? Learn to distinguish between deep and shallow approaches to stance, movement, touch and intent. Don’t worry about style—these week is about substance. From basic standing through form, push-hands, sabre, sword, spear, this work is applicable to every aspect of the art.

Campamento de 4 dias de Empuje de Manos • Madrid Push Hands Camp
Madrid, España
Campamento de Empuje de Manos de 4 días
Serie de 25 Energías
Pegarse, Escuchar, Comprender, Recibir y Neutralizar
Agosto. Viernes 15–Lunes 18

4 Day Push Hands Camp
25 Energies Series: Neutralizing, Enticing and Seizing
Sat Aug. 15-Tue Aug. 18
Taiji push-hands skill requires an understanding of various kinetic energies (jin). Last year Sam began the presentation of 25 basic energies of push-hands in Madrid, starting with zhan-nian jin or ‘sticking energy’. We examined in some detail rolling, transferring, pivoting and exchanging, the vital elements in maintaining the firm and relaxed connection. In this year’s exciting four day event, we will review these concepts along with ting (listening), dong (comprehending), jie (receiving) and hua (neutralizing) energies. From here we graduate to a study of yin (enticing) and na (seizing) energies while also deepening our understanding si zheng tui-shou (the ‘four-hands’ push-hands drill) which is critical to the study of classical taijiquan.

Message: ANNOUNCEMENT
A rare opportunity is coming to Ottawa. There will be a Taiji
workshop presented by Eli Montaigue, son of Master Erle Montaigue, founder of the World Taiji Boxing Association, on September 20 & 21, 2008.
Eli will be teaching:
• Advanced Small San Sau
• San Sau’s Deadly Mother Applications!
• Old Yang Form (Yang Lu Chan)
• Single & Double Pushing Hands
• and Fa-jing Striking Methods

Mother Applications in the small San-Sau
Mother Applications do not appear much in writing nor on DVD. From Eli’s site: “The mother applications from the small San-Sau are some of the best multiple strike kill methods out there, teaching you all about body movement, Fa-jing, and Dim-Mak. There is one Mother Application for every move in the Small San-Sau, the postures in the form are your first reaction, your defence, even though some of them alone can kill, the mother applications are your follow ups.”
There will be five hours of training each day, with the exact starting and ending times and
location in Ottawa to be determined. The cost of the two-day
workshop will be $180.00 Canadian.
This is Eli's first visit to Canada so don't miss this opportunity to learn from and train
with him. It is important that you contact Larry at doubledragonott@aol.com
as soon as possible to register your interest in attending as the presentation of this workshop is contingent on there being a minimum of 20 to 30 registrants
