Tai Chi Suaijiao

Throws and Take-down Techniques

Shuaijiao is a famous Chinese martial arts and sport. However, Suaijiao can also refer to the throwing techniques found in almost every martial arts.

Tai chi is famous for its throwing methods, and for its emphasis on neutralizing throws. This makes sense, since tai chi was made famous by people like Yang Chenfu, who trained with shuaijiao team in Beijing. It was also made famous by masters who were advanced in years, and therefore not crazy about going to the ground. Ground fighting is a young person's game, since strength and conditioning have much more importance on the ground. The older the martial artist, the less they want the fight to go to the ground.
