Martial arts in Afghanistan have a long history. Traditional indigenous arts are difficult to find, but some of the old arts may have survived.
Types of wrestling like Kurash experience some popularity in Afghanistan. Muay Thai and Pencak Silat are also taught in the country.
Modern Afghanistan has been represented in international competition, especially in Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo.
The 2009 Asian Martial Arts Games saw Afghani athletes bring home 12 medals.

Chinese Wushu is practised in Afghanistan, though it is not as popular as other martial arts.
