"Beijing 16" tai chi

"Beijing 16" posture Yang style tai chi



The 16-posture standard routine is a beginner routine created in Beijing. It leaves out some of the more physically challenging movements of the widely known 24 form. It is also a very "symmetrical" routine, with almost all of the movements being performed once on each side.

  4. Brush knee push (left and right)
  5. Twist step, deflect, parry, and punch
  6. Apparent close and counter with push
  7. Single whip (left)
  8. Right hand strums the lute
  9. Repulse the monkey or "Step back and reverse reeling forearms"
  10. Turn the body and weave the shuttles left and right
  11. Needle at the bottom of the sea
  12. Fan through the back
  13. Wave hands like clouds (to the right)
  14. Grasp the peacock's tail (right and left)
  15. Cross hands
