"Beijing 16" tai chi
"Beijing 16" posture Yang style tai chi
The 16-posture standard routine is a beginner routine created in Beijing. It leaves out some of the more physically challenging movements of the widely known 24 form. It is also a very "symmetrical" routine, with almost all of the movements being performed once on each side.

- Twist step, deflect, parry, and punch
- Apparent close and counter with push

- Repulse the monkey or "Step back and reverse reeling forearms"
- Turn the body and weave the shuttles left and right
- Needle at the bottom of the sea
- Fan through the back
- Wave hands like clouds (to the right)
- Grasp the peacock's tail (right and left)
